Our mission
We award scholarships in Baden-Württemberg

More than a scholarship – A lifelong relationship

Through the Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM, the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung has supported international exchange among university students and young professionals since 2001. They are all part of a living network. Committing to a scholarship is just the beginning of the active relationship the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung maintains with its alumni. A relationship that lasts a lifetime.

The scholarship has a lot to offer

Through the Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM, the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung makes it possible for young people from Baden-Württemberg to spend time abroad, and allows international recipients to experience living in Baden-Württemberg. You will receive a scholarship of up to 1,400 euros per month, for a maximum of eleven months, for your international stay. Scholarship recipients receive educational support from the time they commit to the scholarship, and in particular after returning from abroad. They become part of an extensive international network that connects people from many different fields and cultures. Scholarship recipients can network and expand their professional and personal competencies in the Regional Chapters, through the exclusive online portal BWS-World, and at numerous networking events in Baden-Württemberg and beyond. By doing so, scholarship recipients build their own networks, while benefiting both personally and professionally from the diversity of the Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM.

A BW Stiftung
programme

The Baden-Württemberg Stiftung is committed to making Baden-Württemberg a vibrant and liveable place. The foundation paves the way for top research, diverse educational programmes, and treating others in a responsible and conscientious way. The Baden-Württemberg Stiftung is one of the largest operational foundations in Europe. It is the only foundation investing exclusively in the future of Baden-Württemberg on a non-partisan basis – and in the future of its citizens.

Fortune favours the brave

International experience, language skills, and intercultural understanding are more important than ever for schooling, university studies, and professional life. Because of this, the Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM makes it possible for qualified young people to spend time abroad and go beyond their own horizons. Each year, around 1,500 scholarship recipients participate in an exchange. For each participant from Baden-Württemberg, another scholarship recipient comes to southwest Germany from another country. The programme is founded on the principles of reciprocity and exchange.
